Home About the Spring Fire Department Services

The Spring Volunteer Fire Department is committed to exceeding the expectations of the residents within our service area. We are challenged daily to perform at a moments notice, at a superior level of performance, to a wide range of emergencies.  We are diligent in responding to and mitigating calls that include fire, rescue, hazardous materials, and medical emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fire Suppression

The motto for fire suppression used to be "put the wet stuff on the red stuff"  Well times have changed and so has the Spring Volunteer Fire Department.  We actually put wet, white stuff on the red stuff!

Water and foam have been widely used to extinguish most types of fires in the past.  Now we inject air into the foam and water to produce a solution we call Compressed Air Foam.

All seven of our front-line apparatus are equipped with CAF systems as well as our Tankers and Booster trucks.  This gives us the maximum amount of extinguishment capabilities per gallon of water possible on everything from Building fires to grass fires.

Rescue/Vehicle ExtricationRemoving the door with a combination tool (combi-tool)

The Spring Volunteer Fire Department provides vehicle extrication services as well as other types of rescue services.

Two of our stations have Rescue Trucks that carry a full compliment of hydraulic rescue tools that are used to remove victims who are trapped or pinned-in motor vehicles.

We recently added combination spreader/cutter hydraulic tools to all 7 of our front-line apparatus to begin the extrication process before the Rescue Trucks arrive.

Hazardous Materials

There are several hazardous materials certification levels and the Spring Volunteer Fire Department has a select group of individuals in each category.

We are capable of handling small to medium hazardous material incidents and rely on additional assistance from mutual aid departments for larger scale incidents.

The fire service is ever-changing and in the last 10 years it has become more common for fire departments to provide Emergency Medical Services as well.

Although we don't have ambulances, in 1997 the Spring Volunteer Fire Department became a first responder agency in the State of Texas and provides Basic Life Support assistance to residents in our service area on emergency medical calls with Cypress Creek EMS
